

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Joseph Nedier Gary, the former Mildred Parker, age 88, at 11:00 am Friday, September 7, 2012 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Patrick Burke officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until service time.
A native of Jackson, MS and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Gary passed away peacefully at 6:20 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Consolata Nursing Home with family at her side.
Mildred was a wonderful and loving mother. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandson. She touched the hearts of many friends throughout her life. Her warm heart and beautiful smile will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, LeRoy Gary and wife Brenda of Lafayette; Mary Musemeche and husband Gaylord of New Iberia; LouElla LeBlanc and husband Gabriel, Jr. an Patricia Benoit all of St. Martinville; Rita Faye Gary and Linda Belair and husband E.J., Jr. all of Broussard; six grandchildren, Clint Musemeche and wife Brandy; Terrence Musemeche and wife Charnelle; Laurie Gary, Cory Gary, Michael Theriot and wife Michelle and Maggie Michele Theriot; great grandson, Adam M. Musemeche and Griffin Michael Theriot who will arrive in February and her nephew, Charles “Ed” Parker, Jr. and wife Alice of Bastrop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Nedier Gary; parents, Robert and Annie McLauren Parker; her brothers, Carl Parker and wife Virgie; Joe McLauren and wife Gloria and Charles Ezra Parker, Sr. and wife Nadine and two sisters, Donnie Howell and husband Homer and Elizabeth Reagan and husband Bill.
Pallbearers will be Gaylord Musemeche, Clint Musemeche, Terrence Musemeche, Cory Gary, E.J. Belaire, Jr., Gabriel LeBlanc, Jr., Michael Christopher Theriot and Adam Musemeche.
Charles Parker, Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses, aides and staff of Consolata Nursing Home and Hospice of Acadiana. We thank you for the love and dedication you provided to our mother during her stay with you. We thank you for your courtesy and compassion in our time of need.
