Ned Joseph Myers

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be celebrated for Ned Joseph Myers, age 88, at 11:30 am Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Holy Family Cemetery Chapel. Deacon Wade Broussard will officiate. Interment will follow in the mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 8:00 am until 11:00 am.

Ned was born October 20, 1926 in New Iberia to the late Eloi and Celeste Romero Myers, and passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Iberia Medical Center, with his family at his side.

Ned was a lifelong oilfield worker and retired with Marathon Oil. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and a cold beer while cooking for family and friends. Ned’s greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his step-son, Richard “Dickey” Segura and wife Sis and his step-daughter, Harriet Kellams and husband Donald; his grandchildren, Dean Segura (Becky), Donna S. Adams (Bret), Laurie N. Hollins (Greg), Donell N. Busroe (Fred), Matthew G. Nunez (Brandee), Jennifer K. Copell (Doyle) and Paige Perero; 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vernice Migues Myers; his step-daughter, Dawn Segura Nunez; a grandchild, Robin Kellams; and his siblings, Mildred Moncla, Marjorie Brock, Gladys Badeaux, Warren “Brother” Myers, and Lloyd Myers.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dickey Segura, Dean Segura, Alex Adams, Andre’ Adams, Jodie Badeaux, Donny Brock and Tom Moncla.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Azalea Estates, to his many caregivers, and especially to his daughter-in-law, Sis, who cared for and visited him daily.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ned’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
