Paul "Billy" William Marks, age 69, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Billy was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, whose wit and charm left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Billy had a great passion for sports, particularly bowling, where he not only excelled but truly enjoyed playing with his local league. His love for the game was matched only by his enthusiasm for other sports, such as baseball and football, which he often shared with his family. He was known for his sense of humor and the way he could always make people laugh, bringing joy and lightness to those around him.
Billy was a devoted father to his three sons, Joby Gonsuron (Lisa), Dalyan Marks, and Damian Marks. He also took great pride in being a grandfather to his five grandchildren: Kaelynn Gaudin, Aurora Faye Marks, Breigh Eldridge, Taylor Gonsoulin, and Blake Comeaux. Billy’s love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his legacy will live on through them.
Billy is survived by his sons, his grandchildren, and his brother, Brian Marks, who will carry on his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eva Marks; his daughter, Nicole Comeaux and his sister Cynthia Champagne; and other loved ones who have gone before him.
A man of laughter, love, and loyalty, Billy will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His infectious personality and the joyful memories he created will continue to bring warmth to the hearts of his family and friends.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at a later date.
