Sandra Theriot Gerard

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Sandra was the cherished daughter of the late Martin Theriot, Sr. and the late Effie Mire Theriot. Raised in a family deeply rooted in Cajun heritage, she carried forward the values instilled in her from a young age — honesty, compassion, and the enduring strength of friendship.

Sandra was the heart of her family — the one everyone turned to in times of need. Whether caring for loved ones through illness or comforting them near the end of life, she gave selflessly and without expectation. Her care came from a place of deep love, and she did it all with quiet dignity.

Known for her radiant spirit and joyful presence, Sandra had a gift for bringing people together. She was the life of any gathering, and her home — especially the patio — was often filled with laughter, stories, and the aroma of her famous fried fish. Fishing was one of her favorite pastimes, and many of those fish made their way onto the plates of family and friends during those cherished get-togethers.

Sandra also found peace in her garden, tending lovingly to her rose bushes, each bloom a reflection of her nurturing soul. The same love she poured into her flowers, she gave abundantly to her family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit made every day brighter for those lucky enough to know her.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Sandra’s love lives on in all of us. We look forward to the day we will be reunited with her in eternal peace. Until then, rest well, Sandra. We love you deeply and miss you dearly.

Sandra is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 25 years, LeRoy J. Gerard, Jr.; her children, whom she adored: Tiffany Marie Benoit, Devin James Benoit, and John Michael Gerard; her brothers, Martin Theriot, Jr., Larry James Theriot, and Ricky Theriot, Sr.; her godchildren, Billie Jean Viator and Madelynn Rae Lester, whom she lovingly raised as her own; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Effie Theriot, and her siblings: Terry Theriot, Jesse Theriot, Melissa Deshotel, Barbara Viator, and Gail Theriot.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday, September 5, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM, with the Men's Group leading the recitation of the rosary. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8:00 AM, followed by a 10:00 AM dismissal to Broussard Cemetery, where Sandra will be laid to rest.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Devin Benoit, John Gerard, Josh Theriot, Ricky Theriot, Jr., Michelle Theriot and Joe Theriot. Honorary pallbearers are LeRoy Gerard, Martin Theriot, Jr., Larry Theriot and ricky Theriot, Sr.
