Shannon R. "Red" Carmouche Sr.

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services celebrating the life of Shannon R. “Red” Carmouche, Sr. will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia. Red was 42. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday from 9:00 am until time of services. Family and friends are encouraged to wear Saints apparel or casual clothing as Red would want everyone to be comfortable.

Shannon was born May 26, 1973 in Lafayette to Emery Batiste and the late Cheryl Jean Carmouche and passed away Friday, April 22, 2016.

Shannon, known by family and friends as “Red” was a lifelong oilfield worker. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, son, nephew and friend. Some of Red’s favorite pastimes were playing dominoes, watching his beloved Saints, and hosting family and friends for one of his many seafood boils and cookouts. Red touched many lives in his 42 years and made many friends through his kindness and generosity. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Morish Carmouche of New Iberia; his six children, Tyler Catherine Carmouche of Lafayette, Kloie Danielle Morish, Baylei Rae Carmouche, Ahlana Elizabeth Carmouche, Shannon Ray Carmouche, Jr. and Falyn Fayth Carmouche all of New Iberia; his father, Emery Batiste and wife Charlene; three brothers, Terrell Comeaux of Lafayette, Brandon Batiste of Washington, D.C. and Jonathan Batiste of Lafayette; Aunts, Deborah Ventroy and husband Rick, Rosalind Simpson and husband Larry, Lisa Morehead and husband Elmo; Uncle, Felton Carmouche; and other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Jean Carmouche; his grandparents, Nolton and Melba N. Batiste and Catherine Carmouche; and his mother-in-law, Fay Cheiko Morish.
