Born on August 23, 1960, in New Iberia to the late Ellis Moore and the late Margie Schexnayder Moore, Shelly was one of five children raised in a home deeply rooted in Cajun culture. From an early age, she was taught the importance of hard work, compassion, and loyalty—values she carried with her throughout her life.
Shelly led a fulfilling and vibrant life, working in a variety of careers. Many will fondly remember her years operating her own cleaning service, her time at The Daily Iberian, and most recently, her work with local casinos—especially at Cash Magic. No matter where she worked, she brought warmth, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
To her family and those closest to her, Shelly was far more than her professional accomplishments. She was a devoted mother, a cherished companion, and a trusted friend. Her happiest moments were those spent surrounded by family. She and her loving companion of many years, Keith Arnaud, Sr., shared countless memories together, including visits to Poncho Villa—where laughter and community were abundant.
A gifted cook, Shelly’s kitchen was a gathering place of comfort and love. Her crawfish fettuccine and banana pudding became family legends—meals made with love that brought everyone to the table and left a lasting impression. To be invited to her table was to be welcomed into her heart.
Shelly’s life was centered around her family and close friends. She lived each day with purpose, ensuring the happiness and well-being of those she held dear. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and selfless devotion. While her absence leaves a void in our lives, her spirit lives on in every cherished memory and shared story. “Rest well, Shelly. We love you and will carry you with us always.”
