Born on June 10, 1943 to the late Simon Menard, Sr. and Elaina Simon Menard, Simon was one of three children. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years and was honorably discharged. Simon was a kind and caring man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He liked taking trips to the casino with his wife and was known for playing Black Jack, Poker, and Mississippi Stud. He was also an avid fan of college sports, being a huge supporter of both the UL and LSU sports teams. Above all, Simon was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Dolores Barras Menard; son, Bret Menard (David); step-son, David Meaux (Ashley); step-daughters, Mary M. Bourque (Danny Jr.), Wendy M. Mouton (Byron), and Linda M. Mullens (Blake); sister, Jeanette M. Sherville (Sam); six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James “Jimmy” Menard; and grandchild, Adam Meaux.
