It is with great sorrow and deep love that the Pellerin family announces the passing of Stephanie Buteaux Pellerin, our beloved matriarch and the heart of our family. Stephanie passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. She was 64.
Stephanie was born on October 18, 1961, in New Iberia, Louisiana, to the late Oswald F. “NuNu” Buteaux and the late Delores Lopez Buteaux. Raised in a family steeped in Cajun heritage, she carried that pride throughout her life. A 1979 graduate of New Iberia Senior High, Stephanie also attended Franny’s School of Dance, where she was a proud member of the famous Tabasco Kids dance group. During her school years, she also competed in archery and was the Louisiana State Champion in her division.
During her junior year in high school, Stephanie met the love of her life, Bruce Pellerin, and together they began a lifelong love story that spanned 47 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, April and Wesley, who remained their greatest joys and accomplishments.
While Stephanie’s most cherished role was that of wife, mother, and grandmother, she also enjoyed a fulfilling career as a catalog production designer with Stuller, Inc. in Lafayette. Her creativity, dedication, and knowledge made her a valued member of her department, and through her many years there, she not only built a career but also lifelong friendships.
Stephanie’s world revolved around her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, always present to support April and Wesley in everything they pursued. Whether traveling with Wesley to baseball tournaments or joining April on business trips, Stephanie was happiest when spending time with her children. Some of their most treasured memories were made on family vacations to Disney World—riding rides, enjoying delicious meals, and simply being together in the most magical place on earth.
Her love only grew deeper when she became a grandmother. Her grandchildren—Brayden, Rylan, Cameron, and Sophie—were her heart and soul. She adored them unconditionally, baking each one a special birthday cake of their choice every year. Her homemade macaroni and cheese and crawfish fettuccine were family favorites, legendary among all who tasted them. Cooking was one of the many ways she showed her love.
Outside the kitchen, Stephanie found peace in the simple joys of life. She loved gardening (Bruce proudly shared that she still has peppers ready for picking), fishing and hunting alongside Bruce, and spending quiet moments painting and drawing.
Although she will be dearly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that Stephanie is not gone from us, but has simply gone before us. One day we will be reunited with her in eternal peace. Rest well, Stephanie, for you have earned your heavenly reward. We love you deeply.
Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband and best friend of 47 years, Bruce Pellerin; her children, Wesley Joseph Pellerin and wife Hanna, and April Michelle Pellerin; her precious grandchildren, Brayden Clark, Rylan Clark, Cameron Pellerin, and her little princess, Sophie Pellerin; her sister, Wanette Buteaux Haycock; her brother, Kevin Buteaux and wife Tiffany; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Stephanie was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Kenneth Haycock, and her niece, Ashley Elizabeth Haycock.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Stephanie’s life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Marcellus Catholic Church, with Fr. Randy Courville as celebrant. Following the Mass, she will be laid to rest at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Wesley Pellerin, Brayden Clark, Rylan Clark, Kevin Buteaux, Trevor Haycock, Brett Haycock, and Zach Buteaux.
