Tuesday, August 17, 2021…Just minutes before midnight, a beautiful family stood together to send their beloved wife and mother to her heavenly reward. Teresa Hobbs, a devout catholic, loving mother, and dear friend, passed away peacefully at her home. She was 64 years of age.
Teresa was born November 6, 1956, in Gulfport, Mississippi, the only child to the late Alejandro Correa and the late Rita Mickenheim Correa. She was raised in Biloxi where she would graduate from high school and start working with the local paper. There, she met the love of her life, Bill, and after just three short months of courtship, they married. In 1982, Bill accepted a new job in Louisiana and they moved to New Iberia. They would soon welcome the birth of their daughter, Lindsay, and seven years later, a son, Billy.
As the matriarch of her family, Teresa devoted herself to the love and care of her husband and children. She lived her life placing faith first and foremost and the needs of family and friends above that of her own. Bill shared that even after 40 years together, they still enjoyed holding hands everywhere they went. Theirs was truly a perfect “love story” marriage. Lindsay and Billy reminisced over the many adventures they shared with their mother, like their Aerosmith concerts. Billy was only seven when Teresa took him to his first concert, and they’ve been following the group around the states ever since. Lindsay spoke of their travels throughout Europe, including Italy where Teresa checked off a lifelong dream of visiting Rome and the Vatican. It was without a doubt the trip of a lifetime, spent with the family she loved so much and her friends with whom she loved to travel. Disney World was another annual family vacation fun spot. Teresa, Bill, and the kids looked forward to the trip every year, making some of their most cherished family memories there.
As the years passed, Teresa and Bill would see their children begin lives of their own, but they always found time to get together for weekly dinners and family time. She enjoyed weekends with Bill on their boats on the Northshore, talking with her “golden child,” Billy, about everything from basketball to cooking, and spending much needed Mother/Daughter time with Lindsay, getting their hair done together every month and shopping together every chance they could. Throughout this memorial to Teresa, family was mentioned often as they were truly her world. Faith, family, friends…it was how she lived her life. All the trips and fun times would have been for nothing without having Bill, Lindsay, and Billy at her side. And, on Tuesday night, minutes after the family recited the rosary, she drifted off to her eternal peace. Teresa will be missed immensely, but her legacy of faith and love will always live in the hearts of those she loved so dearly. Rest well, Teresa, for we will all be reunited one day.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend of over 40 years, William C. “Bill” Hobbs, II; her daughter and son who were the absolute loves of her life, Lindsay Alexis Hobbs and William C. “Billy” Hobbs, III; her beloved son-in-law, Damien Morgan; her faithful fur baby, Tessy; three beautiful granddogs that she spoiled with love, Charley, Izzy, and Tucker; and her longtime and dearest friend, Anne Menard.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Adelaide Brown and Herman Lawrence Mickenheim; her aunt, Lurlean “Mickie” Houk; and her most faithful fur grandbaby, Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Teresa’s life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Fr. Keith Landry, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Readers for the Mass will be Jenna Clement and Whitney Petree with musical selections rendered by Jodi Bollich. Following the Mass, Teresa will be laid to rest at Holy Family Mausoleum.
