Catherine Hicks

She was born on November 18, 1922, in Jefferson City, Florida, the daughter of the late Hayes Alexander and Hattie James Alexander. She was raised in the Methodist Church and was married to the late Harold Hicks for 64 years. Mrs. Hicks and Her husband resided in Detroit, Michigan for 60 years of their life until her move to Connecticut in 2006.

Mrs. Hicks work for many years in the restaurant business in Detroit. She loved to play cards, travel, and entertain family and friends. She was blessed to be able to enjoy her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren while residing in Connecticut.

She is survived by her daughter Gwendolyn Jones, of Groton; her sisters Annie Mae Williams, of Jacksonville, Florida, Edith Williams of Detroit Michigan, and Alease Clemson of Greenville, Florida and her husband Simp Clemson; her grandchildren Kieran Jones of New London Connecticut, Glynis Blanker of Norwich, Connecticut and her husband Walter, Monica Jenkins of Uncasville, Connecticut and her husband Clifford; her great grandchildren Noah and Olivia Jenkins. Her God daughter, Linda McMillian of Detroit, Michigan and she leaves numerous nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers.

She was predeceased by her brothers Acie Alexander and Hayes Alexander.

A chapel service will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Woodmere Cemetery 9400 West Fort Street Detroit, MI 48209 (313) 841-0188. Stinson Funeral Home 1939 S. Fort St. Detroit, MI 48217 (313)-386-8200 will be handling arrangements.
