Anna Mae Giordano Greco

Anna Mae Giordano Greco (“Ah Ya”) passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Born in New Orleans, LA on November 25, 1926, Anna Mae was the daughter of the late Charles V. Giordano and Anita Arnauld. Beloved Mother of Anita Greco Bonura and Mother-in-Law of Carl J. Bonura, Jr. Loving Grandmother of Bryan Carl and Charles Vincent Bonura and his wife Mary Thompson Bonura. The love of her life is her beautiful little Great-Granddaughter Claire Genevieve Bonura. Sister of the late Charles “Billie” and Joseph Giordano, and cousin of the late Claire Courrege Rice. She was the niece of the late Edna Arnauld and Simon O. Courrege. Also survived by a host of cousins and friends, and her companion for many years, Lucy Chretien.

Anna Mae was a 1943 graduate of St. Joseph Academy and a parishioner of St. Louis King of France Church in Metairie and devoted to St. Christopher Church and School. She worked for Shell Oil Company for 25 years and retired in 1984.

Anna Mae was a member and volunteer of The People Program for many years. She was also a member of the Activity Club, Shell Retiree Fun Seekers, AARP Chapter 4273, St. Joseph Guild and St. Michael’s Guild.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Metairie Healthcare and Bonnie Evans of Hospice Associates for the wonderful care they provided her. Special thanks to Mary Moncada for her constant help and support; and to Sandy Sumich, a dear friend who was like Anna Mae’s second daughter and has always been there for our family.

All are invited to attend the funeral Mass in the chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home on Friday August 24 at 1pm. Visitation will begin at 10am until Mass time. Interment will take place in Metairie Cemetery.
