Betty Jane Theresa Doskey

DOSKEY Betty Jane Theresa Doskey Born September 28, 1929, died December 3, 2011. Born in New Orleans, daughter of Eugene and Agnes Doiron. She is survived by Jimmy Doskey, husband of 30 years, son Daniel Doskey, brother Eugene Doiron, Jr., sister Theresa Claverie, and grandchildren August and Lily Doskey. Theresa accepted a vocation from the Sisters of Christian Charity, ultimately completing a masters degree in Latin from Loyola University Chicago. Over 50 years in education, Mrs. Doskey taught thousands of children in schools around the U.S., including Livingston Middle, Heinz Elementary and St. Mary’s Dominican High School here in New Orleans. She was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with family above all else. She was an active member of the Community of St. John the Evangelist, an avid gardener, and adored both her native city and the New Orleans Saints. Visitation begins at 10am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Stephen, with mass at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope House, 916 St. Andrew St. New Orleans, LA 70130.
