

Charlotte J. Habliston died peacefully at Poydras Home on Friday, July 22, 2011. She was born in Baltimore, MD on December 9, 1928, the daughter of Joseph Clarence Jameson, Jr. and Lydia Corning Mills Jameson. Charlotte graduated in 1946 from Mt. St. Agnes Preparatory School and attended Mt. St. Agnes College. She married Charles Carroll Habliston, III, in Baltimore, MD, and in 1954 moved to Salisbury, MD on the Eastern Shore. Charlotte was very active in the Salisbury community, serving on the Junior Board of Peninsula General Hospital, and the Salisbury Community Players. In 1988, she relocated to New Orleans, LA. Charlotte was a world traveler, adept bridge player, an avid reader, a gifted pianist, and lover of the performing arts. Charlotte’s roots ran deep in colonial Maryland history. She was a member of the Ark and Dove Society, the Samuel Chase Chapter of the DAR, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, the Magna Charta Society, and the Friends of the Mayflower. Charlotte had a vivacious and engaging personality and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her children: Lydia Habliston Ozenberger (Larry), Charlotte Habliston Thomas, and Charles Carroll Habliston, IV (Ann Morton), She is also survived by her grandchildren: Donald Richard Toso, Jr., Lydia Jameson Toso, Cecile Carroll Toso Nix (Peter), Charles Calvert Thomas, George Calvert Thomas, Harold Ashton Thomas, Jr., Caroline Marion Habliston, Charles Carroll Habliston, V, and John Bennet Habliston. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lydia Jameson Spencer. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Clarence Jameson, III, (Molly), brother-in-law Robert Eldon Spencer, and many nieces and nephews. Charlotte will be buried at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bryantown, MD, in the family cemetery. Bryantown was the seat of the first Catholic worship in 1654 in Charles County and the church parish was established. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the kind and loving care given by the staff at Poydras Home.
