Dorothy Niedermeier Luquet

Dorothy Cecilia Niedermeier Luquet returned to her Holy Father and Jesus, on Friday, December 16, 2011, at the age of 94. The beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Luquet, Sr. and the wonderful mother of Patricia Taggart, Joseph A. Luquet, Jr. and Michael C. Luquet. Mother-in-law of Dr.Charles Taggart, Cassie Luquet, and Rhonda Luquet. Grandmother of Chuck Taggart, Marie Taggart, Melissa Willmon (Jeffery), Nicole Porte (Randy), Roxanne Luquet and Mia Luquet. Great grandmother of Jacob, Lucy & Callie Porte and Thomas and Molly Willmon. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Godfried Niedermeier and Mary Fairchild Niedermeier and was preceded in death by her brother Clarence “Buddy” Niedermeier, sister Marion Niedermeier and granddaughter Dorothy Taggart She was a native of New Orleans and resident of Mandeville for the past 5 years. A former parishioner of Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, a member of the Altar Society, Life & Lively , an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and a Prayer Warrior of St. Joan of Arc. For over 50 years she was the cornerstone of her family’s business, Niedermeier’s Grocery, on the corner of Royal and Mazant St. in the Ninth Ward. She loved talking with her many regular customers and was always generous to those in need. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass, celebrated by close family friend Fr. Stanley Klores, at St. John the Baptist Church, 1139 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., NOLA (parking lot on church grounds) , on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 12:30PM. Prior to the mass, visitation will be at Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. from 9:30AM to 12:00 Noon. Internment in St Vincent de Paul #3.
