Eleanor Holcombe Roy

Eleanor “Nell” Holcombe Roy, age 87, slipped the bonds of earth Saturday, October 15th, 2011. Those who knew her, knew her as a character and a force to be reckoned with. She had a great sense of humor, loved life, and enjoyed food and wine in the company of her friends and family. Her grandchildren thought she was WAY cool. She will be greatly missed. She was the daughter of the late Thomas B Holcombe and Adele St. Martin Holcombe, sister of the late Frances “Topsy” French and brother Thomas Holcombe Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Elliott C. Roy, her son, Thomas B. Roy and her daughter, Lenore C. Roy.

She is survived by her children, Elliott “Chip” Roy, Jr.(Linda), Camille Roy Carter (Martin), David H. Roy, Jacques L. Roy (Barbara) and Adele Roy Thevaos (John), and 8 grandchildren: Jessica Roy, Hannah Delaney, Jack Delaney, Jacob Roy, Spencer Roy, Anja Roy, Tomas Roy, and Ryan Wells. Nell was a native of Houma, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA

Per her request, there will be no funeral. Her family will have a private celebration of her life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charity, the American Cancer Society, 2605 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121. Thank you to Veronica Montrel for her loving care of Nell in her final months.
