

Iris Dupre′ Cooper passed away on Tuesday, April 19, at the age of 79, with her three children at her side. She was born in New Orleans, to Ernest Dupre′ Sr and Olga Gueringer. She was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School and Straight Business School. In 1951, she married Elmo J. Cooper Jr., who passed away in 2007.
Iris enjoyed an active social life with family and friends. She retired from Social Security Administration. She was a member of the Lucky Whisters Club, People’s Program, Senior Friends, and Sweet Sixteen Social Club. She enjoyed dancing, swimming, bowling, and traveling.
Iris is survived by her daughter Alona Wilson (Louis), two sons Elmo, III (Denise), Ellis (Cheryl), five grandchildren: Sasha and Evan (Ellis); Tiffany, Megan, and Chad (Elmo), one great-grandson: Laurent (Tiffany) and a large extended family.
Iris was the youngest of six children; Doris, Mildred, Ernest, Rudolphe, and Whittemore Dupré.
Services will be held at St. James Major Catholic Church 3736 Gentilly Blvd., on Monday, April 25, 2011 with visitation at 10:00 am and Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Internment will be private on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at St. Louis Cemetery No.3.
