Joan Lee Joan Bremer Bremer Reed

Joan Bremer Reed, age 80, died Sunday, January 23, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Robert L. Bremer, Jr., and Irene Kolb Bremer. Beloved wife of the late Capt. Barth F. Reed. Mother of Kathleen Reed Martello, Barth Robert Reed, Barbara Wendy Reed, and Gail Reed Lobo. Mother-in-law of Dr. Frank Martello and Dr. Bento J. Lobo. Grandmother of Katherine Martello Tuffield, Elizabeth Martello Cogswell, Nicholas R. Lobo, and Brian A. Lobo. Sister of Gary C. Bremer (and his wife Joan) of Lompoc, CA, and the late Robert L. Bremer III (wife Evelyn), and survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A life-long resident of New Orleans and a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Church, where she sang in the choir for 35 years until Hurricane Katrina.

The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s of Harahan, Hospice Associates, and the staff of the now-closed EJGH Adult Day Center for their kind and compassionate care of their mother.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial from the New Orleans Home of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal St. at N. Scott; on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, masses or a donation to the charity of your choice is requested.
