Joan Mentel Roux

Joan Mentel Roux passed away peacefully on August 31, 2012 at the age of 81. She was a native of New Orleans and resident of Slidell for the past 12 years. Beloved wife of the late Rene Joseph Roux. Daughter of the late Charles Mentel, Sr. and Lydia Golden Mentel. Mother of Susan Roux Hundt, Vance Charles Roux, Andre Rene Roux and Ryan Rene Roux. Grandmother of Kevin and Brian Hundt, Amy, Victoria, Abby, Alex, and Andre Jr. Roux.

Joan had a very strong faith. She was an active member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, Treasurer of the Lady’s Club, member of the Homebound Team, and volunteered for the Good Sam’s. She was a Garden Club member and belonged to the Newcomers Club.

She was an energetic, vibrant and spirited individual. She was fun loving and full of laughter. She had a strong devotion and love for her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and her wide circle of friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Mass in the chapel at Jacob Schoen and Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery Number One.
