Jorge Al Alfonso Brenes

Al Brenes passed away on March 21, 2013 at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jorge Humberto and Maria Cristina Brenes, his brother Gilbert Brenes, and his sister Maria Cristina Brenes. He was born in Tibás, Costa Rica and moved to New Orleans when he was 17 years old. Al retired from the Jesuit Seminary and Mission Bureau. He loved his Tigers and Saints. He was also an accomplished orchid grower. Most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Stoltz Brenes, their 3 children, Jeannine Alleman (David), Gretchen Brenes (Rob), and Michael Brenes (Emily), grandchildren Natalie Alleman, Joshua Alleman, Paul Brenes, and Mark Brenes, and nephew Randolph Cardona Brenes. Al will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St.; Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 am.
