Louis René Cassou

Louis René Cassou passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011, at the age of 93. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Ruth St. Amant Cassou; three daughters, Annette Wille (Roy), Paulette Cortez (George), and Claudette Lay (Fred); six grandchildren, Dr. Keith Wille (Dr. Ashita Tolwani), Kerri W. Reynolds (James), Kristie W. Kussman, Michelle C. Spoto (Chris), Ryan Lay (Jill), and Aaron Lay; eight great-grandchildren , Tyler, Allyson, and Alyssa Reynolds; Colin and Carter Kussman; Jake and Luke Spoto and Hunter Lay. He is also survived by one sister, Juliette C. LeBlanc and was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Isidore and Olga Gaillard Cassou. Louis, a native of New Orleans, was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School Class of 1935 and attended Soulé College. He retired in 1982 as a Sporting Goods Factory Representative. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was the oldest living charter member of Lake Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 218 in Algiers, Louisiana.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be celebrated in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. with visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M.
