Marlene Saia Ferrara

After a very brief illness, Marlene Saia Ferrara of New Orleans, Louisiana departed this life in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, December 29, 2012. She was the devoted mother of two daughters, Judy Mixon (Claude) and Gina Ferrara (Jonathan Kline). She was the sister of Andrew Joseph Saia and the proud grandmother of two grandsons, Clifton and Steven Mixon. She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Catherine Saia, her brother Joseph, and a host of aunts and uncles. Marlene worked for twenty-five years at First National Bank of Commerce, retiring to spend more time with her family and friends. Faith and prayer were essential elements of her life and she enjoyed attending daily Mass and praying with the Rose Petals prayer group. She was a member of the Missionaries of St. Theresa, Her family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and the Sisters of the Holy Family for their support and care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street on Thursday, January 3, 2013. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. followed by the Funeral Mass celebrated by Monsignor Bob Massett at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
