Mary Louise Benson

Mary Louise Cantrelle Benson, a native of Cut Off, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Edgar A. Cantrelle Sr. and Aline P. Cantrelle. Mary Lou is survived by her only beloved daughter, Marlowe T. Benson her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie T. Shapiro and Ryan C. Shapiro, her siblings Wilma C. Tsangaris (deceased), Edgar A. Cantrelle, Jr. (deceased), Betty C. Hyden, Nancy C. Rodriguez, along with her much loved Nieces and Nephews. Mary Lou was Salutatorian of her Senior Class, recipient of the American Legion Award and received a Scholarship to LSU, she choose to attend Secretarial Business College. Mary Lou was a retired Executive Secretary in the Oil Business, had her own “oil field related” radio talk show and was a former Officer of the Desk & Derrick Club of New Orleans, She was an active member of Overture to the Cultural Season, Patio Planters (French Quarter Garden Club}, Le Petit Guild {Guild Board Member}, Friends of Germaine Well's Easter Parade (Past President) and resident of the French Quarter for 50 years. Mary Lou is affectionately remembered for her exceptional organizational skills and willingness to volunteer at the drop of a hat. Speaking of hats, Mary Lou was never seen without one! Heartfelt thanks to the Hospice Nurses, Ochsner’s Physician’s Assistant, her Dear friends Jane, Riley, Wendell, Mark, Melanie, Sunda, and Harrison for taking their time to Care!
