
Sister Rose Anthony D’Alfonso, Daughter of Charity, nee Rose Mary D’Alfonso passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2013. Born in New Orleans on December 31, 1922. She is survived by her brothers, Joseph A. (Philippa) and Anthony Jr. (the late Catherine), several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary Puccio D’Alfonso.
She graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing on June 2, 1940 and was then employed at De Paul Hospital, New Orleans. In 1953, she entered the Community of Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, MO. at Marillac. Sister ministered in several Daughters of Charity Missions in Missouri, Texas, South Dakota and Louisiana. In Louisiana she served at Charity Hospital and Padua House. From 1977 to 2000, she served at Carville, LA. Sister then resided at Malta Square. In 2003, she retired to a ministry of prayer at Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel, 5200 Gen DeGaulle Blvd., New Orleans on Saturday, March 2, 2013 with Mass at 11:00AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. A Prayer Service will be at 9:45 A.M. Interment will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, 1950 Soniat St., New Orleans.
