Tommy Stevenson Holton

Tommy Stevenson Holton passed away on June 6, 2011 at the age of 63. He was born in Dekalb, Mississippi and was a resident of Slidell, Louisiana. Beloved husband of Carolyn Ann Edwards Holton and father of Cordeen Holton Hudson (Sean) of Pearland, TX; Garrick Holton of New Orleans, LA; Brandon Holton (Stacey) of Slidell, LA; Renel Holton of Greenbelt, MD. Brother of Matthew Jackson Jr. of Houston, TX; Mississippi State Senator Sampson Jackson II (Patricia) of Preston, MS; Dr. Charlotte J. Collins (Joseph) of Woodstock, GA; Callie J. Watt (Graylin) of Preston, MS; Mack Jackson of Daleville, MS; Step sister Jesse Pearl Reed of Noxapater, MS; extended family, Frederick Cooper III (Carol) of Somerset, NJ; Cozetta C. Singleton (Charles) of Decatur, GA; Michele C. Thompson (Frederick) of Castle Rock, CO. Grandfather of Seagan, Savien, Parri, Asia. He was preceded in death by parents Matthew Jackson Sr. and Rubye H. Jackson, brother, Earthy L. Jackson. Mr. Holton is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tommy was a dedicated employee at Dillard University for over 30 years, and retired as Dean of Library Services. He served in the U.S. Army, was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and various community organizations.

Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of Dillard University , New Orleans Police Department (7th District), Discovery Communications (Silver Spring, MD), and La Marque ISD (La Marque, TX), are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 2515 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117.
