

Joan D. Davidson of New Rochelle died peacefully on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at the age of 88. Born on November 12, 1922 in Brooklyn. N.Y. she was the daughter of Edward and Loretta Woods. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years Harry G. Davidson. Joan was the life of the party and was well known for her ballroom dancing skills. She was a regular at the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in New Rochelle and would often to host dance parties at the family home on Broadview Ave. Joan also volunteered for many years at the New Rochelle Hospital working in their gift shop. She was the beloved mother of Susan Nadel and her husband Stan of Searingtown, N.Y., Edward and his wife Hilary of Bedford, N.Y., Richard and his wife Mary of New Rochelle, N.Y. and James also of New Rochelle. “Nanna” Davidson had eight grandchildren Michael, Erin, Hollie, Amy, Scott, Brooke, Brian and Kelsey and four great grandchildren Julia, Anna, James and Michael. Visiting will be today from 7 – 9 p.m., Friday from 2 – 5 p.m . and one hour before a 11:30 a.m. chapel service on Saturday with interment to follow in the Beechwood’s Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Willows Towers and Joyce Amoah for the wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers contributions in Joan’s memory can be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester in White Plains, N.Y.
