

Joseph A. Lestingi died on Oct. 12, 2014 at Northern Westchester Hospital from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Born on 1/18/26 in L.I. City to Lena (De Francesca) and Andrew Lestingi, he graduated from Bklyn Tech HS and worked with his father as a cabinetmaker and draftsman until his induction into the US Army Infantryi, Co.C, European Theatre where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon discharge he attended Pratt Institute and the Institute of Design and Construction, ultimately earning his Architect's License. He was employed by several industrial design and architecture firms, specializing in DeptS.tore planning before starting his own practice focussing on small commercial and residential design and remodeling. After marrying Joan (Cicero) on Oct. 10, 1964 he designed and built his home in Armonk,residing there until his death 2 days after celebrating his 50th wedding anniveraary. He is survived by Joan, their son Jay and Jay's fiancee, Stephanie Kirby as well as 5 nieces, grandneices and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Stella McHugh. "Joe" had been a member of the American Legion, Armonk Post, St. Patrick's Church and the Sr. Center in Armonk, where he enjoyed singing. He loved music, especially jazz, and was avid tennis player. He was a volunteer for "Helping Hands" delivering lunch to the homebound elderly while he still drove. Joe will be remembered for his simple but clear moral values and abiding faith.
Mass in his honor will be celebrated Sat. Nov.1 at 10:30 AM.followed by a reception to be announced. His ashes will be interred at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, at a later date. In lieu of flowers. donations in his name may be made to a charity of your choice.
