Mary G. Johnston

Visitation will be Friday, August 29 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the George T. Davis Funeral Home at 14 Lecount Place in New Rochelle, NY. The funeral will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 30 also at the George T. Davis Funeral Home.

Mary was born in New Rochelle, NY on April 2, 1924 to Dorothy Christina MacFarquhar Tyndall and Robert Tyndall. She graduated from Berkeley Lewelyn Secretarial School. She was married to George Arthur Johnston on October 20, 1951.

Mary worked for the Board of Education of New Rochelle for many years until her retirement. Over the years she was an active member of New Rochelle Evangelical Covenant Church of New Rochelle, NY; Huguenot Memorial Church of Pelham, NY; and Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church of LaGrangeville, NY. Mary loved the Lord and served him faithfully for 90 years. She also loved quilting, painting, piano, the recorder, Sudoku and reading.

Mary is survived by six children who loved her dearly: Linda Johnston Dentinger of Orlando, Florida; Leland and Judy Johnston of Moneta, VA; Paul and Sophia Johnston of LaGrangeville, NY; David and Kathy Johnston of Hartford, WI; Marny and Tracy Danz of Ada, MI; and Liz and Mike Mednansky of Deposit, NY. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
