Ruby Elizabeth Morgan

Ruby is predeceased by her husband Arthur C. Morgan. She is survived by her children Becky, Cedwyn (Martha), Bruce (Katia Georgopoulos) and Meredith (Don) Rossborough and grandchildren William, Gwen, Elizabeth, Kellan, Odysseas and Alexander.

Ruby taught at the weekday nursery school at Christ United Methodist Church. Ruby began teaching math at the Riverdale Country School and eventually became department head. She was devoted to her students and a mentor to younger staff, challenging them to grow intellectually and personally.

A fine singer and lover of classical music, Ruby sang in the church choir, the Westchester Choral Society and The Oratorio Society of NY. It gave her great pleasure to travel with the Oratorio and other musical tours, singing in venues throughout the world. She was very proud when her choral director described her voice as a “warm and musical instrument.”

After retirement in 2001, Ruby became active in the Association of University Women. She enjoyed the stimulation of the group and its activities promoting education for girls in math and science.

Friends may call at George T. Davis funeral home at 14 Le Count Place, New Rochelle on Friday 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the New Rochelle United Methodist Church, 1200 North Avenue on Saturday at 10 AM. Memorial donations can be made to the Oratorio Society of New York, 1440 Broadway – 23rd floor, NYC, NY 10018 or the New Rochelle United Methodist Church Organ Fund.
