Albert Thomas Cloud, Sr., age 88 of Tazewell, TN passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Claiborne County Nursing Home. He was a member of Wallen Ridge Baptist Church. He was uncle “Baldie” to some and “Alb” to others but he was a great man with many different talents and loved his family dearly. He played the role as a father, uncle, and papaw to many children in this community. He was a hard worker and devoted his life to his profession. He worked as a cook at the Tunnel Inn restaurant, and as a bell hop for the Riverboat Company in Kentucky. Also, he worked at Shell Oil Company in Tazewell, he worked at Y-12 in Oak Ridge and Coffey Funeral Home. His true profession that he finished his career with was floor sanding and restoration which included 62 successful years. Due to health issues in 1998, he was forced into retirement with floor restoration. He was known for his excellence in floor restoration in many different states. He was well known as “Alb the floor sander.” After his illness, he went back to work part-time at the Board of Education doing maintenance to occupy his time. He was a member and supporter of the NAACP and was on the board of FHA. He appeared on an episode of the Heartland Series with Bill Landry. He loved to go rabbit hunting and enjoy the outside hills and mountains. He loved for all the young children to sit down with him and talk about the history of Claiborne County and the people of the back then days as he would say it. He was a strong believer in education. No matter who you were, he would always say “Stay in school and get your education.” He was always a proud man that stood firm in his beliefs.
