He truly loved life!
Rusty’s primary passions were boating, smoking meats, traveling to original landmarks, and he was a true bourbon connoisseur. He was a true-blue TN Vols fan, and a recent Hoosier Football convert. Rusty had a personality that was larger than life. He had a big heart, never met a stranger, and was generous beyond belief. This fun loving man gave the best sincere hugs. Family time was very important to him. Rusty always said that finding the love of his life, his wife Polly, was the best thing that ever happened to him.
In recent years, Rusty returned home to Tennessee to his beloved lake and mountains.
Rusty is survived by his spouse, Polly; children, Kala (Andy), Brad, Jason (Iris), Ryan (Tatum); Siblings, Karlene Edgemon (Randy), Karl Knight (Julie), Genine Ireland (Don), and Sandy Melton (Tony); Grandchildren, Isabella, Andrew, Payton and Kaynen. Rusty is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by a sibling, Patrick Knight.
His “amazing legacy” will live within all of us.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Liter House, 5301 Winthrop Ave. (Liter Room), Indianapolis, IN on February 28, 2026, from 2 PM – 4 PM. (Wear Indiana Hoosier or Tennessee Volunteer’s colors).
