Buster Turner

Mr. Buster Turner age 82 was born in Clouds Switch Community in New Tazewell, TN on September 16, 1928 to Dayton and Sally Turner who preceded him in death. He passed away Thursday March 3, 2011 at his home. He professed his Faith in God at an early age. He was a member of Clouds Church. He wrote the song “The Beautiful Alter of Prayer” which was about his Mother praying for him to be saved. He was a well known Country and Bluegrass and Gospel Music Singer, Writer and Author. He was a Music Teacher who taught many Students how to play various musical instruments. He played with The Pinnacle Mountain Boys, The Honeycutt Brothers, his family in the Turner Brothers Gospel Quartet. He was associated with numerous bands and music artist. He was the owner and founder of WTAZ Radio Station in New Tazewell, TN. He was owner of Turner Musical Theater where he hosted several Sunday Gospel Programs including The Sunshine Gospel Jubilee. He was Honored Merchant and September 16 (his birthday) it was declared Buster Turner Day by Claiborne County Mayor Virgil Harrell and State Representative Mark Goins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Harriet Pierce Turner; his only Daughter Darlene Marie Turner and his son, Jimmy Wade Turner; Brothers, Hubert and Harold Turner; Sisters Opal Pierce and Thelma Wolfenbarger; Grandson Matthew Jason Turner.

The family will receive friends Tuesday March 8, 2011 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the Coffey Funeral Home. Funeral service 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 9, 2011 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Robinson Cemetery
