Elva Lee Young

Elva Lee Young was born August 30, 1935 in Tazewell, TN to the late Rev. Lee and Vallie Asberry. After a lengthy illness Elva Lee went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday December 23, 2018 at 6:30 pm at her home with her husband, daughter and devoted dog Socom at her bedside. Elva Lee professed her life to Christ at an early age, she attended Dry Valley Missionary Baptist church growing up and as a young adult, then later became a member of Raven Hill Baptist Church. During Elva Lee's young adult years, she worked at Sunshine Biscuits in Dayton, Ohio, Donlin Sportswear in Tazewell, TN and Midway Truckstop and Terminal in Bean Station, TN. Elva Lee's adult life was spent as a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. Elva Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Lee and Vallie Asberry; brother Lester B. Asberry, sister-in-law Gladys Asberry; daughters, Patsy Shell and Carolyn Hayes, granddaughter, Kristie Shell and great granddaughter, Mya Hayes.

Elva Lee is survived by her loving husband of 52 years: Douglas Young

Grandsons: James Mitchell (Jim Bob) Shell, Joseph Rouse, Charlie Shell, Jason (Amber) Hayes and Alex Cooper

Granddaughter: Valoree Rouse

Great Grandchildren: Kadeen Hayes, Jaylee Hayes, Kinsley Hayes, Karley Shell, Karson Turner, Jaxsen Hayes, Jayten Hayes and Korbin Shell

Son-in-law: James (Jimmy) Shell

Life long Friend: Juanita Jordan

and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family of Elva Lee would like to say a special thank you to the following: The Staff of Claiborne County Hospital, Stanifer Drugs, The Staff at Suncrest Home Health Care and Hospice and to Jaime Cooper for helping assist with her daily care.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P.M. Wednesday December 26, 2018 at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. Funeral service at 2 P.M. Thursday December 27, 2018 in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow in the Irish Memorial Garden.
