Garry Wayne Epperson

Garry Wayne Epperson age 68 of Ewing, VA, was born September 7, 1951 and passed away on August 14, 2020. He was a member of Gibson Station Missionary Baptist Church. He professed his faith in Christ when he was young. Wayne was a lifelong resident of Claiborne County where he was a cherished part of many lives. He spent most of his adult life Pastoring and Ministoring to the community. The seeds he planted over the years led many people to Christ. He was a good friend to many, but he was most loved as a husband, father, and son. He worked hard to provide for his family. He made sure his children were raised in church, and had the opportunity to baptize all three. He took care of his sick parents until the end. Later in life, Wayne deeply loved his grandchildren. Each of them had a special place in his heart. When he and Sherry married, he had someone to go on outings with again. They had a lot in common, including spoiling the grandkids and gardening. Wayne found his peace in keeping the yard and flowers beds nice. He still continued to visit family and friends, especially those who were in need. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, RB and Opal Epperson, and the beloved mother of his children and wife of 30 years Elizabeth "Dobie" Epperson.

He is survived by his wife of 4 years: Sherry Barnes Epperson of Ewing, VA;

Children: Dee (Steve) Middleton of Ewing VA;

Brent (Kendra) Epperson of Harrogate, TN;

Brandon (Nyeisha) Epperson of Fayetteville, NC;

Jason Barnes of Ewing, VA;

Leslie (Jason) Hunter of Speedwell, TN;

Grandchildren: Courtney (Trevor) Orr, Kristen Hedrick, Autumn Middleton, Bailey Hedrick, Jenna Middleton, Rachel Green, Trey Epperson, Nick Epperson, Hayley Epperson, Ava Grace Epperson, Robert Epperson, Daphne Epperson, Cody Epperson, Chase Epperson, Payton Epperson, KylieGrace Barnes, Tiffany Hunter, Brantley Hunter;

Great Grandchild: Alayah Green and many, many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Thursday August 20, 2020 at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell, TN with funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M. Thursday in the Coffey funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will follow in the Kibert Cemetery.
