My heart was broken to hear of the loss of Derrick. He was such a fine man. He always greeted everyone with a smile and kind words. I know the pain of loosing a spouse. It is the most difficult thing to experience. The bond a husband and wife has is tremendous. Along with that tremendous bond is tremendous heartache when one is left alone to continue on this life without them. You loose so much more than a husband. You loose your best friend and in your case father of your beautiful children. Noone can ever understand what a whole is forever left in your life unless they experience it. I am so sorry you have to. Derrick was very proud of his family. I hope the memory of how much love you all shared can comfort you. You were his love as was those sweet boys he so often bragged about. May he rest in peace and you all be together after your time on earth is done. I know he will be waiting on you. I will never forget when he did our driveway and you and the boys came to bring him lunch one day, he was so proud of you all. So much love in his face when he saw you. If you ever want to talk you know where am at. I will be praying for you.

Words just can't express the sadness we felt when we heard of Derrick's passing. We will always remember how friendly and kind-hearted our cousin Derrick was to us.  Many of our Montgomery family reunions were held at Bill & Brenda's home on Memorial Day Weekend.  We always loved going to their home whenever we visited Virginia. Derrick and Paula would go out of their way to make every stay at their home so much fun for us.  We felt so welcome there!  We will always remember the kindness that was shown and the great times we had at our get-togethers year after year.  We will never forget our cousin Derrick.

So sorry you have to expierence such heartbreak. Derrick was a wondrful man, who loved his family dearly. Always smiling and always kind. This world has suffered a great loss in loosing him. We pray daily for you Krista, the boys and the rest of his family. I am so sorry you have to go through this at such a young age. So sorry your babies won't have the time they should have had with the daddy that loved them so dearly. He would light up when he spoke of those boys. He lives on because Jacob is so much like him.

Please know that no words can express my thoughts.  My heart reflects back so many years ago and the wonderful childhood memories that we have.  Derrick always had a strong hug, that sweet grin and a chuckle laugh that shined through his eyes!  He was a fine young man, so blessed with a loving family.  I know each day, you see and touch something that was a part of him , and with time it will be easier, but the void and loss will never go away.  Our peace can only come in knowing the he is at the hand of our Father God.  He is rejoicing with a peace we cannot yet understand.  God is preparing your family for something great, we don't understand or know, but He is all-knowing, and yet we tend to question "why", it is not yet for us to understand.  We can rejoice in knowing someday will be GREAT reunion in Heaven!  We love you and will pray for divine comfort for your family.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. As a mother myself, I can't find the right words to say, I just wish for you to know I will be praying for your family. God's eternal love and grace will keep you.

It is always a sad moment in life when we realize that God has a path for our loved ones, one that takes them out of ours but the Angels have him and he had the heart of an angel. My prayers are for us to use this loss as an example of how short life can be and we need to respect & appreciate one another and be the rope of strength to get them through. I have so many fond memories of Derrick, especially during our high school days.  Everytime he would see me he would say "hello cuz".  Derrick will truly be missed by me and everyone that knew him.  It' hard to understand why things like this happen to someone so young but God knows and he will give us the comfort and strength we need to help us during this time of sorrow. My earliest childhood memories are with Derrick. He was always a great friend and so fun to grow up with. Stopping by Montgomery's Store will never be the same.
