belonged to Yellow Springs Baptist Church and was saved and baptized at the age of 11 years old
alongside his sister Tudy Holt (9 years old) in the middle of a snowy winter. He married his sweetheart
Christine as a young man and grew into a strong family man. Ken was one of the hardest working men
you will ever meet. You might find him working in the log woods with his brothers and sons or the
tobacco fields where the Lord always blessed him with a plentiful crop. An avid outdoorsman, he would
hunt, fish, dig ginseng, and climb mountains without losing his breath. Some may know him for his love
of racing. He drove car 99 for many years, building his cars from the wheels up. He was a legend of his
time, racing at Tazewell Speedway, and could even say he helped build the stands where so many could
come and enjoy watching him, his sons, and even his daughter Norma, race. Win or lose, but mostly
wins, he was loved and admired by all who knew him.
Ken won his wings in Heaven on Sunday, 18 July 2021. He passed peacefully, at his home in Tazewell, TN.
Beloved Husband, father, brother, buddy, and Papaw is proceeded in death by his wife of 64 years,
Christine Holt, daughter, Norma Holt, parents Fred and Eva Holt, sister, Lucille Cody, brother, Phil Dean
Holt as well as Ricky and Lynn Holt and Jerry and Roger Cody.
He is survived by his Children: Allen and Barb Holt, Dewayne and Malinda Holt, Penny Sharp and Gene
Connor, and Mark Holt. Siblings: Tudy Holt, Roy and Penny Holt, Ken and Francis Payne, Ronnie and
Joyce Holt, Dewayne and Irene Morgan, Debbie Whitaker, Ada Davis, and Clara Holt. Dearest Friend and
Closest companion Jean Williams. He is also survived by his Grandchildren: John and Tracy Kelly, Justin
and Jessica Sharp, Kenneth and Ashley Holt, Josh and Jennifer Holt, Derek Rickett, Joseph and Sarah Holt, Jacob and Melita Holt, Mikaela Holt, Hayley Holt, and Victoria Nichole Holt. Ken is survived by a host of great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday July 20, 2021 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home with funeral service at 8:00 P.M. Tuesday night in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Hoffman Cemetery.
