Roy Murphy

Roy Murphy, a beloved and hard-working individual, passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on March 3, 1962, Roy was a resident of Powell, Tennessee. He was known for his humorous nature, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Murphy, father, Albert Murphy, and step-son, Michael Rice.

Roy was married to Lisa Murphy for nearly 28 years. He is survived by his children: Caitlin Murphy of Knoxville, TN, Megan Murphy of Toledo, OH, Ryan Murphy of Panama City, FL, Jesse Murphy of Petersburg, MI, and Jordan Dye of Powell, TN. Step-Daughters Alysha Dye of Fostoria, OH and Jennifer Nunn of Lexington, KY. He is also survived by his siblings: Faith Monroe of Apollo Beach, FL, Robin Riley of Townsend, TN, Sheri Fusco of Canton, MI, and Sean Murphy of Knoxville, TN. Roy's beloved companion, Boo Boo, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends, also mourn his passing.

Roy was a dedicated fan of the Detroit Lions and had a passion for rock music. He was also an animal lover, cherishing the companionship and joy they brought to his life.

A special thanks is extended to all of his work family at TVA for their love and dedication to Roy, and to everyone who called to check on him or kept Roy in their prayers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 14, 2026 from 5 until 7 PM at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will be held on Thursday January 15, 2026 at 11 AM in the Dobbs Cemetery in Harrogate.
