Ruth lived a life of service. First and foremost was her service and devotion to the Lord. Didn’t matter where she was, she was always willing to give Him praise and proudly give her testimony as a Christian. She was saved at age of 18 at Springdale Baptist Church where she remained a member for most of her life. She and her husband Ben proudly served the Springdale community for over 20 years in the grocery business. Also, she truly enjoyed her job at Claiborne County Hospital as a nurse’s aide where she loved helping those that needed her the most! In 1984 she retired from the hospital after almost 15 years of service. Maw loved spending time with her family, being surrounded by them. She really loved singing in and out of church but especially singing with her sisters. She loved to cook a huge feast and have her family all around her and if you didn’t eat at her house, her feelings were hurt. Ruth was always ready for a road trip; she loved riding, laughing and visiting. She enjoyed precious fun playing setback with her family and most of the time winning. She loved all her grandchildren the same but what she was the best at was making all of them think that each one of them was her “favorite”.
