Verneda Letha Martin

Verneda “Neta” Letha Martin, age 61, of Tazewell, TN was born March 19, 1962 and passed away January 1, 2024 at home surrounded by those who loved her. She was saved at an early age at Mulberry Gap Baptist Church, and was a member of Clouds Memorial Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family, and she took every opportunity to witness about His love, mercy, and grace. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to many children throughout her life. She always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, happy, was taught about Jesus, and fed! Being a mother was her greatest joy and accomplishment, and it shows in the love and compassion of her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosa Jones, brother Ronnie (Hawkeye) Jones, sister Judy Gibson, niece Misty Gibson, and Nephew Jason Martin.

Neta is survived by her lifelong partner, and special angel James Martin. Her beloved children: April (Kenneth) Johnson, Leslie Martin, Cody (Ashley) Martin, Olivia Grace (Devan Merrill) Campbell, Anthony Martin, Annabella Martin, Colton Martin, Kayleen Cordero, Jenna Martin, Kyle Martin, Noah Martin, Lee Martin, and Autumn Martin. Grandchildren: Alexius (Doyle) Atkins, Caden, Mattison, Bryston, Jordyn, Zachariah, Jaxson, Ella, Jaylen, Ruthie Jo, Abigail Johnson. Austin and Jeffrey Walker. Joe, Jeremiah, Cameron, Madison, Brent, Mackinzie, McKenzie and Ethen Martin. Colton James, Rosalie, Addilynn, Wayne, and Christopher Martin. Emberly and Elly Cordero. Great Grandchildren: Selena, Milah, Trinity, Gabriella, Marco, William, and Luca Atkins. Grand Johnson. Sisters and Brothers: Debra (Daryl) Holt, Bobby Jean Collins, Georgia Martin, Jerry Jones, and David Jones. She also leaves behind wonderful nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of other beloved family and friends.

She wanted to thank Suncrest Hospice, Dr. Nicole Shields, her beloved nurses Felicia Fultz, Michaela Edds, Melissa Collett, and Yvonna Denny and her honorary daughters Lucinda Drummonds, Raegan Essary, and Kayla Heck. Also, a special thank you to Eagles Rock Missionary Baptist Church and Cumberland Mountain Industries for all the prayers and love.

The family will receive friends Wednesday January 3, 2024 from 5 until 8 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Thursday January 4, 2024 at 1 PM in the Jones Family Cemetery in Sneedville.
