William "Bill" Monte Brooks

William Monte “Bill” Brooks age 89 of Tazewell, TN was born September 8, 1927 and passed away at the age of 89 on December 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his closest family and friends. He was a true patriot, serving his country as Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1952 until 1954. He was also one of the longest serving county commissioner in the state of Tennessee, holding office in Claiborne County for 54 years. Mr. Brooks owned and operated Brooks TV and Appliance for more than 30 years and was often referred to as “TV” Bill. Though he was a lifetime farmer, cattleman, entrepreneur and real estate broker, he placed his faith first, as a member of the First Baptist Church of New Tazewell, TN. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, Chloe and Lassie Miles Brooks; wife of 62 years, Jean Brooks; sons, Donald and Roger “Red” Brooks; brother Charles Wayne Brooks; sister-in-law, Susie Brooks and grandson, Brian McClure.

Special care-giver, Shirley Young, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P.M. Thursday December 22, 2016 at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell with funeral service to follow at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial at 1 P.M. Friday December 23, 2016 in the Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors.
