Carol Lynn King-Kretschmer passed away with family at her side on February 25, 2025. Born in Matthis, Texas on March 7, 1947 to James Auhrey King and Vivian Lurlene Johnston. Beloved wife of Robert E. Kretschmer. Loving mother of Christian Ian Kretschmer. Dear sister of Michael Jett, Andy Jett, Susan Cox, and the late Gary King. Carol was born into a military family, who lived in many places throughout the US and abroad. For over forty years, she has been a devoted teacher at the Lexington School for the Deaf in Queens, NY. Throughout her career she taught various subjects while mostly focusing on the sciences; STEM Education, reading text content, related literature, and the language used itself. Carol fostered her students’ development in all ways, and loved participating in the Middle School plays, carnivals, STEM robotic competitions, after-school activities and summer school programs. Her commitment to her students extended far beyond the classroom, with so many of her students and the impact she had on their lives and futures.
