
JUDELSON--David N. David N. Judelson died at New York Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria Olivia and survived by their children, Paul (Alice), Jeaneane (John), Roy (Mary) and five grandchildren, James, Caroline, Olivia, Jack and Alexander. He is also survived by his second wife, Eva. Known as Jim, he was devoted father and grandfather but was well- known and highly regarded by many in the business world as the President and COO of Gulf + Western which came into being after Jim met Charles Bluhdorn and later the two purchased Michigan Plating & Stamping Co in the late 1950s. They went on to buy close to 400 companies, some of them, known around the world: Madison Square Garden and its teams, the New York Knickerbockers and New York Rangers; publisher Simon and Schuster, video game maker, Sega Enterprises and Paramount Pictures. Jim was also a passionate inventor, a champion of Gulf + Western's development of a zinc battery- powered car. He also co-founded Biopure Corporation which developed a human blood substitute, Hemipure. He was a 1949 graduate of New York University with degree in Mechanical Engineering and had served his country as a commissioned Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was a great listener, and had the passion for improving and inventing processes to make businesses better and more efficient as well as create and invent things to make the world a better place. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
