Manhattan lost a beloved WW II army vet this November 11th, Veteran's Day 2021, as David Joel Judson passed after 101 years of joyful living. He will be missed by all those who knew him and are grateful to have had him as a friend, husband, father, uncle, father-in-law, and superager.
Dave is survived by his children Ellen Judson, Patricia Moser (Steven), and David Latham (Elizabeth); his second wife to whom he devoted 55 years, Nadia (née Ruzicka); along with his cherished granddaughter, Elizabeth Moser; dear Hecht family nephews Charles (Leslie) and Richard (Susan) and niece Susan Altman and their families; his sister-in-law, Susan Ronson, and his nephew, Paul Ronson; and more loving family.
He was the son of Joel and Carline Judson of Manhattan and Woodmere and also brother to Jane Hecht, brothers-in-law to Charles Hecht, Jr. and Raoul Ronson, and first married to Virginia Straus for 21 years; they pre-deceased him.
Dave graduated from Worcester Academy and attended Wharton before starting in business. He proudly spent most of his career at one firm (Heineman & Seidman), starting on Leonard St. and ending on W. 40th St. while rising from office boy to partner.
He frequented restaurants between 36th and 44th Streets for 6 decades and supported the latest new restaurant and theatre show openings for even longer, along with tennis, boating, Hampton summers, and travel.
Dave earned recognition from Manhattan Borough President Brewer at the occasion of his 100th birthday, enjoying a Proclamation of his official "Dave Judson Appreciation Day" on October 13, 2020, citing his "contributions to the City (due to his volunteerism at SCORE/Pace, the Lighthouse, The Blind Guild, and more) and his vivacious 100 years of life."
He will be remembered fondly.
