

Geoffrey Allan Katz was born in London, England, on October 25, 1958. He dedicated his life to creativity, friendship, pursuit of passions supported by hard work and perseverance while maintaining a strong generosity of spirit and time for others. He also had a wicked British sense of humor.
He passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Katz; his mother, Anita Katz; his brother and sister in law Paul and Marie Christine Katz and their children, Taliana and Joris as well as his brother and sister in law, Barry and Randi Weiss, and their children, Harrison and Julianne Weiss and Michael and Marisa Weiss and Sister in law Maureen Spergel children Bradley and Paulette Spergel and Lindsay. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Katz.
Geoffrey’s artistic talent emerged early. He excelled at Edgware School and Orange Hill Grammar before earning an Art Foundation Diploma and pursuing an art degree at Central School of Art and Design (1980–83). He began his career as a photographer, then moved into talent representation, and ultimately founded Katz Pictures 1987 in London. Recognized globally for its excellence in managing esteemed and award winning photojournalists, syndication and licensing. After meeting Pam, the love of his life, they later launched CPi in New York together in 1993 where they currently represent renowned photographers for syndication, licensing and commercial assignments.
Deeply respected as a trusted partner and advocate, Geoffrey extended his commitment to artists’ rights through a joint venture, Global Rights Control, whose mission is to ensure copyright protection of professional rights holders by pursuing infringements and recouping lost license fees.
Geoffrey’s life was rich with passions: he adored soccer, bowled ten pins, traveled the world, mastered his photography. He was a devoted dog lover too, supported a range of charities, and built a reputation not just for his keen and brilliant mind but for his kindness and commitment to others. His greatest passion was to mentor emerging photographers while creating opportunities and watching their careers flourish.
Geoffrey’s warmth, wit, and dedication to supporting family, friends, and artists have left a legacy that will be cherished by all who were fortunate to know him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
