Boas, Gilbert H., died peacefully on Friday,September 29 in Palo Alto, California. He was 95 years old. Gilbert was born in Paris, France on December 23, 1927. After graduating from Harvard University Gilbert worked at Stewart Stamping Co. where he became the company’s president. Following his retirement, he served on the Board of Northside Center for Child Development and volunteered at the Museum of Natural History and the NY Historical Society. Gilbert was predeceased by his wife and soul mate Hilda Boas with whom he enjoyed a loving 65-year marriage. He was also predeceased by his sister Francoise. He is survived by his adored daughters Diane and her husband Barry Schklair, Patty and her husband Gary Paladin,grandchildren Ali (Lorenz), Ben, Kate, and Jack, brother Jean-Pierre, niece Valerie and nephew Herve. Family and friends appreciated his warmth, intelligence, wit, and knowledge of history and art. He was our rock, upon whom we could rely for unconditional love, a genuine interest in our respective pursuits, and a willingness to drive us anywhere anytime. A celebration of life will take place later this fall. donations in Gilbert’s memory may be made to Northside.
