Gloria Chiesi

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Chiesi, who departed this life on July 17th, 2025 at the age of 86. Gloria died peacefully surrounded by her children, Pamela, Danielle and Alexander Chiesi III and daughter-in-law Maja Chiesi.

Gloria was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 1938 – daughter of Nicolas and Marietta Centofanti. She repatriated to Italy and studied at the British Institute of Rome. At the age of 17, she immigrated to the US on the SS Conte Grande ocean liner where she met her future husband Alexander Chiesi Jr (1937-2002). They built a beautiful life together raising three children in Massapequa, NY and Binghamton, NY before moving to Sherman, CT on Candlewood Lake to establish a venue that would, to this day, be the center of family gatherings. Gloria enjoyed the last six years of her life in Manhattan where was an integral part of her grandchildren’s daily lives.

Apart from her dedication to family, Gloria’s passions were for physical fitness as a personal trainer and sharing her angelic singing voice with family and thousands of church parishioners over the years.

Gloria was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. In addition to her three children and daughter-in-law, Gloria is survived by two grandsons, Alexander IV and Lake Chiesi, two granddaughters, Samantha and Sabrina Santoni, son-in-law Jack Santoni and many other extended family members by whom she was beloved.

A visitation will take place at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, located at 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle, 405 W 59th St, New York, NY, on July 25, 2025, at 9:00 am.

Interment will follow mass at Coburn Cemetery in Sherman, Connecticut.

For those wishing to send a tribute of flowers, the family kindly asks that only white florals be selected - symbolizing peace and serenity.
