

James had diverse interests and expertise in business and non-profit organizations. He was self-employed in the Health Care Industry and participated in his wife’s International Nurse Recruitment Agency.
His cultural interests included attending the theater and providing financial support for The Writers at The Players Club and planning symposiums in set design. James loved music and was a supporter of the Metropolitan Opera, NY Philharmonic, and Brazilian-Afro Cuban Jazz ensembles at the New School.
James was also a collector of fine art and supported the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Frick Collection, MOMA, the Neue Galerie and the Courtauld Institute of Art. James and his wife also supported the New York Botanical Garden, the Historical Society and the American Philosophical Society.
Tennis was an important part of his life. He was a member of many tennis clubs including the International Tennis Club of USA (USIC) where he served on the Board of Directors and as Special Events Chairman including the planning of the 2012 USIC visit to Cuba and junior tennis competitions. James also served on the Board of Directors of The West Side Tennis Club.
James’ community service included serving on The Manhattan Community Board 6 Transportation Committee, the Murray Hill Neighborhood Association and regularly participating in the 17th Precinct Community Council meetings.
A gathering and visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21st, from 2-7p at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 21st, at 5p at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel.
