After earning her master’s degree at Brooklyn College, Judy began her career teaching third grade. Her students adored her (even if they didn’t always show it). After a few years, she pivoted to publishing, where she found her true professional home. She held creative roles at Bantam Doubleday Dell, Nature magazine, and Penguin Random House, holding positions as senior copywriter and advertising and promotions manager.
Everyone who knew Judy said she should’ve had her own sitcom. She took true delight in making friends and family laugh, those relationships were very important to her—and she loved catching people off guard with her razor-sharp wit. Judy also loved classic films, independent radio, jazz, great food (and fun food), art shows, museums, flea markets, and sometimes just chilling out. The beach was a must. Her trips to London, Paris & Italy brought her much joy.
In Judy’s honor, donations can be made to the PBS Foundation or WBGO Jazz 88; two things she could never live without. (please see link below)
We’ll miss her smile, her laugh, her wit, her friendship, and her love.
Rest in peace, Judy.
