

Born in Paterson, NJ Kassie was the daughter of Elaine and Seymour Canter, who preceded her in death.
Kassie is survived by the love of her life, her beloved husband, Don Prusock. She is also mourned by her sister Amy (Michael Fromstein, spouse), her brother Peter (Arlene Starr, partner), nieces Elizabeth and Maya and nephews Nathan and David, her step-children Ilana Prusock (Rebecca Libed, spouse) and Melissa Prusock (Merlin Brittenham, spouse), as well as countless cherished friends.
Kassie had a prolific and distinguished career in senior communications roles within the media and entertainment industries. She began her career at the agency Robinson, Lerer and Montgomery, before joining NBC as Senior Vice President for Communications. She then became Chief Communications Officer at Oxygen Media, and later oversaw the public relations strategy for the network’s sale to NBC. She went on to consult for a number of media brands, including AMC Networks, Lifetime, The Weather Channel, and Nickelodeon before joining Viacom as Executive Vice President for its Music and Entertainment Group. She also enjoyed teaching Strategic Communications to Masters students at Columbia University part time and was a mentor to many in the communications field.
Kassie was active in politics and a champion for women’s rights. She attended Tufts University for her undergraduate degree and held a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.

A memorial service for Kassie B. Canter will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, located at 180 W 76th St, New York, New York, 10023. The service is scheduled for October 27, 2025, starting at 2:30 pm.
