

Larry Bertram Strickler, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Brooklyn, NY, just one day after his 85th birthday. Born on March 18, 1941, also in Brooklyn, Larry dedicated much of his life to education and entertainment, enriching the lives of many with his passion and talents.
Larry graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and later attended Brooklyn College, where he furthered his academic pursuits. His career as an educator spanned several decades, with roles at Seth Low Junior High School, Sheepshead Bay High School, and Edward R. Murrow High School, where he served as the Assistant Principal of Guidance. Beyond teaching history and acting, Larry was also deeply involved in student activities, particularly as a Sing Coordinator. His commitment to education continued at Baruch College, where he worked as an Admissions Administrator.
Parallel to his educational career, Larry was a vibrant entertainer. He was the Director of Activities, singer and Master of Ceremonies at The Hotel Brickman and Kutsher's Country Club, in the Catskill Mountain Resort area. As a singer he was also known for his performances at weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, and cabarets. Larry also shared his love for the Catskills, Broadway, and movies through numerous lectures, further highlighting his diverse talents and interests.
Larry was a man beloved for his kindness, sweetness, and caring nature, described by those who knew him as someone who made others better just by being part of their lives. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Shelly, for 63 years and a loving father to his daughters, Karyn and her partner Patrick, Marcy and her husband Lew, and Sari and her husband Jonathan. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Hayley, Harrison, Taylor, Olivia, Joseph, Sarah, and Emily, and great-grandchildren, Stella, Sadie, Mia, Ronin, and River.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joan and her husband Stuart, his niece Jennie, and great-nephew and niece, Zander and Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle and Harry, and his brother, Melvin.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, March 24, 2026, at 9:45 AM at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street, New York, NY, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ. Shiva will be observed immediately following the burial until 7:00 PM, at the Breuer residence in Fair Lawn, NJ and Wednesday and Thursday, March 25th and March 26th, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Strickler residence in Brooklyn Heights.
