O’SULLIVAN, Lou Ann — Lou Ann O’Sullivan, 87, peacefully on September 23, 2025. Born in Springfield, Illinois, to Louis and Dorothy Gerber, she graduated from Smith College before embracing life as a devoted New Yorker. After beginning her career in finance at Morgan Guaranty Trust, she enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Merck & Co.
Predeceased in 2015 by her beloved husband of 50 years, Joseph, Lou Ann was a cherished sister-in-law, godmother, aunt, and great-aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, who will deeply miss her youthful spirit, elegance, and grace. Admired by all who knew her, she remained humble and kind, treating everyone with warmth and respect. She found joy in opera, ballet, bridge, swimming, travel, family, friends, and in her lifelong love of animals.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregivers for their boundless compassion and loving support, and to the staff of 860 United Nations Plaza for their unwavering kindness over more than four decades.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 3, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 315 East 47th Street, New York, NY 10017.
